Sunny Shade Accommodates up to 16 Guests

Sunny Shade is the perfect setting for your family reunion, wedding guests, or get-together with close friends. For years our guests have been returning to relax, reconnect and create special memories.

Sunny Shade is comprised of two residences that share a common lakefront. Sunny Maple is the house on the lake and Shady Oak is the cottage up on the hill. Both are maticulously maintained and tastefully decorated.

Sunny Maple - House on the Lake (Sleeps 8)

This dog-friendly contemporary home has an open floor plan and boasts a complete gourmet kitchen where you will find Corian counters, maple cabinets and stainless-steel appliances, including an oven, cook top, refrigerator with ice-maker, microwave, and dishwasher. The kitchen is very well-equipped with high quality cookware, utensils and serving dishes. There are place-settings for 8 or more. The home is designed with large windows and glass sliders in most rooms to maximize views of the outdoors and lake.

Four bar stools around the breakfast bar make it easy for all to socialize while the chefs and their helpers prepare that special meal. The dining area, located just beyond the breakfast bar, has ample seating for eight and overlooks the lake through a large sliding-glass door which leads to an expansive stamped-concrete patio. For those interested in preparing and enjoying meals outdoors, a Weber gas grill and 8 person patio dining set awaits you right beyond the door. This dining area is covered allowing you to enjoy the outdoors regardless of what the weather holds. For those who wish to dine in the sun, there is also a round table with seating on the deck overlooking the water on the other side of the kitchen.

Adjacent to the kitchen and dining area is a cozy living room which hosts a flat-panel TV with cable, DVD, VCR and various board games for family and friends to enjoy. The large, leather, sectional, sleeper sofa pulls out to provide additional guest accommodations. This is the perfect spot to watch a movie, read a book, play games, or converse, on that rare rainy day. Also on this level is a full-bath with large shower and two built-in benches.

Upstairs, you will find three lovely, well-appointed bedrooms that share a full-bathroom complete with tub and shower. The master bedroom has breathtaking panoramic views of the lake, a king-size Select Comfort mattress, and cable TV for your enjoyment. The second bedroom boasts a king-size bed, blissful lake views, and houses the "take a book leave a book" library. Morning sun graces the third bedroom which has a queen-size bed. Cool lake breezes and calming sounds of the water lapping onto the beach are often preferred over the central air conditioning. All bedrooms have ceiling fans and ample closet space.

For those seeking quiet escape, there are many places to sneak away to enjoy a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or a good book. Sunny Maple's upper deck is private and quiet. It is the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or sunbathe. The side deck overlooking the lake is a fabulous place to enjoy a meal or a cold beverage. Perfect for having conversations, you may want to take advantage of the two-person swing tucked away to the side of the house.

Shady Oak - Cottage on the Hill (Sleeps 8)

Shady Oak is a charming, 3-bedroom, dog-friendly cottage surrounded by mature oak trees and is 21-steps to the lake. The first floor features: a comfy eat-in kitchen overlooking the lake; a living room with hardwood floors, sleeper sofa and entertainment center complete with TV, and DVD, for your enjoyment; and a spotless full-bathroom with tub and shower. There is wireless Internet access throughout the cottage for those who need to be connected. Through a set of large french-doors you will find a cozy bedroom with a day-bed and a trundle bed tucked underneath. The convenient washer and dryer are located in the basement. Take the spiral staircase upstairs and you will find a delightful master bedroom with a queen-size bed overlooking the lake and a third bedroom with a single-over-double bunk bed and ample closet space.

On the back side of the cottage is a large, lakeside, multi-level deck - the perfect spot to grill and enjoy outdoor meals with friends and family. The covered upper deck provides shade on hot sunny days, and shelter from the elements on that ocassional rainy day. There are many places to sit and enjoy a meal, conversation, or a good book, ranging from the wrought-iron bistro tables on the upper back deck, to the wicker loveseat with cushions, to the adirondack chairs alongside the cottage leading to the lake. There is also a lovely two-person swing underneath the deck, and a 2-person glider on the gated, front porch which allows you to watch passersby along the tree-lined lane out front.

The Great Outdoors

The best part of your day will be spent outdoors. On the waterfront, you have access to a variety of fun non-motorized watercraft including a 4-person paddleboat, 2 canoes, and 2 kayaks. Fish, swim, boat or sunbath on or from our dock or platform. When you get back, wash-off on the deck under a refreshing outdoor shower. Small children will enjoy the play house, sandbox and outdoor toys. There is also a flat grassy area perfect for lawn games or more sunbathing...everywhere you look there are chaise loungers beckoning you to sit and relax...

Spend evening hours conversing around the firepit, the cheminea, or elsewhere on the grounds surrounded by tiki torches. Don't forget to bring marshmallows to roast on the fire...
