Many say that Keuka Lake is the most picturesque of all the Finger Lakes. Museums and historic

casual to haute cuisine. The Amish countryside allows you to experience yester-year
today, where the quilts are handmade and the horse-drawn buggies are part of everyday life.
Unlike the other Finger Lakes, which are long and narrow, Keuka Lake is known as
the 'Crooked Lake' due to its unique 'y-shape.' Keuka Lake is where all of the Finger
Lakes winemaking got its start. It was here in 1860 that the first bonded winery
was established and the first Vinifera vines were planted. Today, the Keuka Lake
wine trail offers the most diverse group of wineries of any destination in the Finger
Lakes and boasts many award winning vineyards.
In 2009, the Finger Lakes region was named the number one lakeside retreat in the
world by the editors of Shermans Travel, beating out better known resort areas such
as Lago di Como (Italy), Lake Mead (USA) and Lake Como (USA.) The editors also cited
Keuka and Seneca Lakes as being "widely-regarded as the most beautiful of the Finger
Lakes and well equipped for tourists and recreational activities."
